Overview

If you’re looking to play a lot of tennis, this event is for you. Teams typically play three rounds per day, three courts (six players per team) per round.

At Kiawah, we hold two sessions and can accommodate 18 teams at each session. There are two divisions: 3.5 and 4.0.

At Tucson, we hold two sessions and can accommodate 30 teams for each session: 10 - 3.5, 10 - 4.0, and 10 - 4.0/4.5 Combo teams.

If necessary, a team may be moved to a different flight than that in which it is registered in order to balance out numbers in each division.

Playing 8-game pro sets means you’ll still have time and energy to relax by the pool, enjoy spa services, and socialize with team members and other players before or after tennis each day.

Round-Robin Play

  • Doubles format

  • Teams of 7 or more

  • Three days of play

  • Fourth day for finalists

  • Age 45+ women

Format details

All match play is doubles. Each team must have a minimum of seven players — six players, plus at least one substitute, are required per team. Teams typically rotate players so everyone has an equal opportunity to play. Players register as teams, not individuals.

Play will be round-robin style over the three days with a final round between the top two highest-scoring teams on the fourth day.

Each 'match' is an 8-game pro set using REGULAR scoring (NOT ‘no-ad’). Teams must win by two games, going to a 7-point tiebreaker at 7-all, if needed. Each round of play is finished in 90 minutes or less.

Teams typically play three rounds per day, three courts (six players per team) per round. The exact number of matches will depend on the number of teams that register for the event.

Although a non-USTA event, three divisions will be offered based on USTA ratings guidelines: Kiawah -- 3.5 and 4.0; Tucson -- 3.5, 4.0, and 4.0/4.5 Combo. Captains must certify during the registration process that all team members are age 45+ and are rated at or below the rating of the division in which their team has been entered.

Combo team guidelines

4.0/4.5 Combo Team Guidelines (Tucson Only)

  • A 4.5 can only be paired with a 4.0. Two 4.5 women cannot play together.

  • Two 4.0 women can play together in this flight.

  • Combo teams must be played from the top down. For example, if there is only one combo team in the line up, they must play in Line 1. If there are two combo teams in the line up, they must play in Lines 1 and 2. Three combo teams can also be in a line up, filling all three lines.

  • There’s no limit to the number of 4.0s or 4.5s that can be on a team; however, the above rules apply to each match. It is strongly recommended that 4.0/4.5 combo teams have at least 3 - 4.5 players.
